Deschutes River Boater Information
Boater passes are required on all sections of the Deschutes River. The upriver and lower river sections (Section 1, 3 and 4) are under a limited entry system. You must purchase passes online at www.recreation.gov. Your group leader can purchase passes for up to 16 people in your party. Once you’re into the site, click on ‘Find Places and Activities’ and choose ‘Deschutes River Boater Pass’ as your option. Follow the prompts from there. Once you’ve purchased the pass, you can either save it to your smart phone or print it out and bring it with you. You must have the pass with you for the entire trip. The website also has a detailed schedule of how the passes are released for purchase. They release as follows: 50% 26 weeks in advance, 30% 4 weeks in advance and the final 20% 1 week in advance of your put in date. All passes are released at 7:30am.
